“We made a conscious decision not to tamper with the original writing,” a Beamdog spokesperson said over email. You are right, it wasn't when they changed but I remember a specific article by Venturebeat where someone from Beamdog said this (I looked up the article): People were still fresh with BG1 issues and complaints. Now that you mention it I remember the battle Atari had with them before the second one was released, but I don't remember too many complaints about changes. It was just BG1 and their new DLC, Siege of Dragonspear. They didn't change BGII after fan back lash. Both version are great, and if you don't want to play the Enhanced Edition you've had around 2 decades to make up your mind that's just how life works. I did not like Beamdog, but I've seen their practices change from community influence, and while I still don't like everything they're doing I appreciate the work they are attempting to do by maintaining accessibility to these old games. I want DRM removed, which is the case here, and multiplayer brought back. I want games to be as close to original as possible with efficient fixes along the way. Now they do what they should have done all along, comparability fixes and the like. That all changed when they tried to do Torment and the creator was like "your not changing anything but what I approve" and people were happy with it they learned. That said, I only did so because I did not like the practices Beamdog was doing by changing characters and adding gender stuff for no reason and changing the games to fit their own ideology. Jinxvorheeze: All these people who didn't buy the original Diamond Edition the day Beamdog announced Enhanced Edition shot themselves in the foot it was my first intuition to do so. for the sake of this gem.Īll these people who didn't buy the original Diamond Edition the day Beamdog announced Enhanced Edition shot themselves in the foot it was my first intuition to do so. I hope they accept criticism (things I've noticed they do not love. I was excited by the fact that my favorite game was restored, but after viewing the work done by "beamdog" i became skeptical about this project. There are many works to do if they want to define their version "enhanced" and concern mainly: graphics, bug fixes, remove limitations (remove unhardcoded stuff, open spellbook, remove level cap,add more classes etc etc).and above all a new DLC. I'm not a beamdog heater, just a guy who followed the develop of this EE. To be more accurate they don't care to fix many dangerous bug/exploit,and this despite i have reported to them. Beamdog then has pick the shadooow e community work, and implemented in his EE. It was Shadooow,a guy from the community, who made a compilation of fixe's released by other members of the community. To the one who says "beamdog fixes lot of bugs" (i can't find anymore the post) ,this statement is partially false.
